On June 1978, a small group of faithful believers began meeting in the home of Rev. and Sis. Joe L. Smith. The purpose was to make history and officially form the Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Joe L. Smith was named Pastor. Pastor Smith served tirelessly until his health began to fail. In January 1992, the Lord called him home.
In April 1992, Rev. George Abram became the pastor and in January 2001, Pastor Abram was called from labor to reward. Although this was a sad time for the Greater New Hope Church, in July of 2001, the living legend that is Rev. Claude E. Jenkins, Sr. became what the Greater New Hope Church needed to infuse life and guidance into the church. Pastor Jenkins would serve until his health started giving him problems and choosing not to let the ministry die or the Lord take him without his business taken care of, he allowed God to guide him to find a pastor to take up where he will leave off.
So on another warm Houston day in May 2016, Pastor Claude Jenkins, Sr. chose to place a pastor in his position that he believes in and trusts. So on May 24, 2016, a merger was set in motion. Pastor Jenkins sensed water was near and sensed it in the new visionary Pastor, Robert Bailey Jr. On June 5, 2016, dynamic Pastor Claude E. Jenkins Sr. passed the mantle of Visionary Pastor and future Senior Pastor of Greater New Hope Church to the incomparable Founding Pastor of the Restoration of Praise Fellowship, Robert Lee Bailey, Jr. The PraiseDome had become the home to Greater New Hope Church.
